If you Android owners are jealous of those in possession of a Sony Xperia Play, simply because they’re the only ones who are able to play Minecraft: Pocket Edition, then you can take out your Envy Green contact lenses – because a video from Daniel Kaplan announced that Sony’s exclusivity period is over and done with on Thursday 29 September!
In the video, Daniel demonstrates how the controls work on standard Android phones, and it seems pretty decent:
- movement buttons on the left-hand side, with a jump button in the centre (although if you walk at a block, you will auto-jump onto it);
- swipe your thumb around the screen to move the camera;
- tap a location to place a block; and
- press and hold a location to remove a block – a circle expanding within a ring appears over the block, and when the circle fills the ring, the block is mined.
So, at long last, all of you Android owners are on a (fairly) level playing field as far as Minecraft: Pocket Edition is concerned. As for you iOS owners, a caption on Daniel’s video reads “iOS version coming eventually”… sorry about that… >.<
