If you weren’t able to make it to Capture the Record 3 on Saturday night – or if your appetite was whetted for more battle and bloodshed – I might have just the thing for you… VGFreak97 emailed me to let me know about a monthly Colosseum PvP tournament he hosts with Minecraft Forum’s PirateBay, and wondered if I’d be willing to get the word out there, in the hopes of having more people apply. I took a look at the details, and I’m happy to lend a hand!
World of Andromeda is a whitelisted Creative/Survival server, with a whole host of plug-ins (including iConomy, Runecraft, WorldGuard and WorldEdit), and an admin team numbering sixteen so far! They also have a VIP system, which provides additional abilities for a one-off cost of $5 (Iron), $10 (Gold) or $15 (Diamond), depending on which package you’d like to go for – details of those additional features can be found in their post to Minecraft Forum linked here. You can also find the whitelist application form on that forum page, too. WoA also has its own IRC channel, and work is being carried out on having their own website, to go with their forum system.
As for the monthly tournament itself, it’s run on a knockout system, with each titanic clash being best-of-3. But there’s a couple of twists which bring the tournament out of the ordinary:
- You’re allowed to bring any items into the arena to aid you in your fight – weapons, armour, food, absolutely anything… but…
- If you lose, any items you have left in your inventory go to the winner!
Not only does the winner receive luxury items (in addition to the spoils claimed from the losers), they will also get the Gold VIP rank free for a month!
If these words weren’t enough to convince you, check out the trailer video below (made by VGFreak97’s friend JOshj5hawk), which also shows off the very imposing Colosseum battle arena! (Oh: although the trailer says it’s in August, it’s already under way – so get going!)
So if you think you’ve got what it takes to rise to the top of the tree, head on over to get yourself whitelisted, and good luck to all entrants!
